The following calculators help you to make smart decisions. The first calculator simply estimates the cost of any lighting system (regardless of lamp type). The second calculator allows you to compare the costs of an older system with a newer LED system. The third calculator gives you an estimate on the payback time when you invest in an LED system.

Calculate the Energy Cost of your Existing System

  • Total Watts: Add actual watts (not equivalent watts) of all lights.
  • Hours on per Day: For Dusk to Dawn, use 12 hours; otherwise use "on" time as controlled by timer.
  • Energy Cost: This is one of the charges that appears on your electrical utility bill. While it is usually expressed as $/Kilowatthour (KWHr), it may also be expressed as Cents/KWHr - in which case you would divide that value by 100 to use in calculator. If you don't have access to your electrical bill, you can call your energy provider or go to the website of the U.S Energy Information Administration and access average $/KWHr in your region. Or, use the default value ($0.12) shown in the calculator - this is the national average (as of 12/15).
