VOLT® Brass Bully Beacon MR16 Well Light

The Brass Bully Beacon is a sealed outdoor lighting well light with a protruding shield that directs light in a horizontal direction. The light source is an mr16 lamp. The socket is mounted on an adjustable gimbal so the lamp angle can be adjusted. The top is thick solid cast brass. The commercial outdoor lighting application glass lens is flush with the top so water cannot puddle. There is a thick rubber gasket between the top and body of the well light for a water tight seal. The lower canister is completely sealed -- the round lead wire uses a waterproof pressure fitting to insure water cannot enter from the bottom of the well light fixture. Install it with our Heavy duty PVC Well Light sleeve which provides a durable housing for all Brass Bully fixtures.

Features & Benefits:

  • Solid cast brass faceplate (with beacon) for lifetime strength and durability

  • Q:

Hello - Are these dimmable, or is there an alternative bulb to make them so? Also, does each light require its own transformer, or will several of them operate on one transformer?

    Thank you,

    Ed M.
Asked on 4/30/2017 by Ed from Superior, WI

    1 answer

    • VOLT Lighting Specialist

      A:

When using our LED's with this fixture, it is not recommended to use for dimming. Our LED's are not capable for dimming. You can use one transformer for multiple of these fixtures; You just want to ensure the wattage load from the fixtures is not greater than 80% of the transformers capacity.

  • Q:

Do you have any photos of this light at night? What is the beam spread? Would it make sense to have these shining from lawn into flower bed?
    Asked on 4/27/2017 by zep

    1 answer

    • VOLT Lighting Specialist

      A:

At this time we don't have any in use pictures for this fixture. The beam spread is going to be solely dependent upon the bulb you choose which will be available in a 12 degree, 38 degree, or 60 degree beam spread. This fixture is very suitable for any horizontal lighting effects that you desire and people frequently use these for small gardens.

What's the recommended spacing along a sidewalk?
Asked on 3/22/2017 by Kevin from Cumming, Ga

    1 answer

    • VOLT Lighting Specialist

      A:

The spacing is really personal preference based on how the landscape is designed. With that being said, we typically recommend spacing them about 5ft-6ft apart.

After looking at lights in all of the major stores and not liking any of them, we were lucky and discovered these lights. We decided to install these lights to light the walkway from the street to our front door. They are fantastic. I could not be happier. The lights look stylish and cast a perfect amount of light for our 4 foot wide pathway. Best of all, the kids, dogs and bouncing balls will not knock them over (unlike the traditional lights for pathways that our neighbors have). This company is very responsive and helpful. During the selection process I called with some questions and the person who answered the phone knew the product well and answered all of my questions. Shipping was fast. The quality is top notch. Our landscape contractor who installed them was very impressed and stated that he is going to start using them on other projects - even his own house. I highly recommend these lights and this company. I will be using VOLT lighting for my next project.

I was expecting to love these lights. They were exactly the design I was looking for and are well built. Unfortunately, they don't give off much light at all. I talked to Volt customer service before I bought them and went through the area I was planning to use them but they are nowhere near bright enough. I swapped to the highest watt bulb with no luck. It seems like the design of the cover sucks up all the light before it has a chance to project outward. I might try to take it apart and put some chrome, tin foil or other reflective type material to see if that helps. In fairness to Volt, I went back and re-read the description and it says low light but I thought I had covered my bases by calling and asking specifically about the use prior to making the purchase. The good news is all the other Volt fixtures I bought are awesome.

Comments about VOLT® Brass Bully Beacon MR16 In-Ground Well Light | Low Voltage Landscape Lighting:

As noted with other well lights good overall construction, and price point. Only issue is high amount of condensation no matter where used. Rubber cap seal tends to leak, some units do and some don't. Try to lossen or tighten to adjust etc, but will still leaks.

Great fixture, using along a walkway and love their discreet, subtle look. Also great tip in the video section on angling the bulb towards the back. I would not have thought to do that.

Comments about VOLT® Brass Bully Beacon MR16 In-Ground Well Light | Low Voltage Landscape Lighting:

The biggest complaint I have about these lights are with the glass. I've had to replace 3 lights because the glass cracked. VOLT is usually pretty good about warranty but they don't warranty the glass...

Comments about VOLT® Brass Bully Beacon MR16 In-Ground Well Light | Low Voltage Landscape Lighting:

Absolutely beautiful light spread and the black in-ground mounting tubes (extra) worked wonderfully.
The light pattern is exceptionally beneficial for our walkway, soft and gentle, not harsh or overpowering.
A Note to VOLT:
PLEASE MAKE THEM IN COPPER!

Comments about VOLT® Brass Bully Beacon MR16 In-Ground Well Light | Low Voltage Landscape Lighting:

I've purchased a number of the brass bully lights. I have replaced a few of the standard well lights with the beacon version....wish I could just purchase a new lens! I've had issues with water getting into a few of them and burning out the LED bulbs. Very frustrating and costly. Other than that, decent.

Comments about VOLT® Brass Bully Beacon MR16 In-Ground Well Light | Low Voltage Landscape Lighting:

This was my first time ordering from Volt. I purchased 12 lights to use as guides for my driveway. I was extremely impressed with the quality of the lights and am excited with how they turned out. As important was the how to video which suggested how to install the lights to prevent them from sinking over time. Would definitely purchase again!!!

These are great!

Comments about VOLT® Brass Bully Beacon MR16 In-Ground Well Light | Low Voltage Landscape Lighting:

Solid brass top, the casing is like a solid type of composite material. Everything seems water tight! I Installed five on my walkway and added some 3w LEDs and looks fantastic! They put out a ton of light but I will say that halogens do get very hot so I did feel the surface get fairly hot because of this. However, all halogens get hot in addition to their fixtures and I knew that going in.
Overall: I will definitely buy again and recommend to my friends... Although they really speak for themselves and have gotten loads of questions. Bravo!

Sidewalk Lighting

Comments about VOLT® Brass Bully Beacon MR16 In-Ground Well Light | Low Voltage Landscape Lighting:

My wife does not like the tall path lights so as an alternative, we purchased the Bully Well lights. They not only illuminate the sidewalk leading to our front door, but add the look of elegance. We had already installed accent lighting on the front of the house (wall washing) and it now looks as though we had a professional design and install our lighting. We used the 60 degree LED bulb and when the light reflects off the white painted underside hood of the Bully product, it provides enough light but not too much to be overpowering. I also used the Blazing wire connectors and they were perfect for the 12-2 wire used. Finally, all lights are connected to the 75 watt Volt transformer and it is hard to believe he lighting effect created uses less than 75 watts of power. Very happy in Missouri.

Comments about VOLT® Brass Bully Beacon MR16 In-Ground Well Light | Low Voltage Landscape Lighting:

We wanted path lights but w/2 toddlers & dogs we knew the tall lamps would be an instant attraction that we'd have to constantly monitor. This style directs the lights where we need it but it is more even with the ground so they're not trying to yank it out during the day. ** The obvious trade off here is the radius that the lamp extend light. I ordered 3 of these for a 15 foot long path with the
