  • Q:

I notice the path lights come with the hammer ground stake can I upgrade to the brass for the cost difference of the two or do I pay have to pay full price for the brass?

    • VOLT Lighting Specialist

      A:

The 10'' hammer stake is free with the purchase however, if you choose a different mounting option during order configuration it will be at a discounted price.

  • Q:

We order lots of the pathlights and the heads seem to oxidize very quickly compared to the rest of the fixture. Is there a way to stop/prevent this from happening?
Asked on 1/19/2017 by Zac from Rogers,AR

      A:

The hats take on the most exposure to the sun, so you will always see those patina faster than the stem. Any elements that stay on that hat usually bake into the top, which may be harder to clean over time. With this being a brass unit, without a clear coat, they are made to take on those elements and change color. Best case scenario to keep them looking the same over time is to clean them regularly. This is the same for any outdoor item.

  • Q:

Our landscaper installed these a few years ago, the tops are getting discolored, how can I clean them.
Also we had a light go out and don't know how to order replacements bulbs or fuses or whatever these are, strange looking. All it says is Volt 120613.
Asked on 1/16/2017 by Ellie from Cinnaminson, NJ

    1 answer

    • VOLT Lighting Specialist

      A:

Our Cast Brass Bronze finished and Raw Copper finished products are not sealed and will patina and can stain from hard water, chemicals, and weather conditions. While the patina is a natural occurrence, the staining can sometimes be maintained by regular cleaning with a gentle dish soap and war water using a soft cloth. These conditions are not covered under our warranty.

  • Q:

Hi, wondering if I should get a 2W or 3W LED bulb with these? I'll use them at my home for path and perimiter low volt lighting. I'm getting 16 of them and they will be in close proximity to each other in high traffic areas.
Asked on 1/4/2017 by Jim from folsom, ca

    1 answer

    • VOLT Lighting Specialist

      A:

The unit itself has a maximum spread of about 16' in diameter. With those being in close proximity, you usually want to go with lower wattage. If they were going to be placed further back on the planter beds or grass, away from the walkway, then you may want to bump up the wattage to the higher wattage bulb.

Nice lights, They feel very solid and decently made but the globe/housing that attaches to the stem does not feel very secure as its just sitting there loosely with what I'll call a set screw. Also, It would be nice to have decently priced bulbs as the ones offered are $13 a piece whereas I purchased a total of ten bulbs for $15. "10x G4 3W 220LM 48 LED Bulb 3014 SMD Corn Light Lamp AC DC 12V Warm White" for 14.99 and they worked perfectly.

The finish didnt hold up as i would have expected. I've had these lights for about a year and they have gone from a very nice looking brass to a pretty ugly looking finish. Called Volt and they said, it's a "natural patena" that will occur and are not covered under waranty. The only option they gave was to try to lightly clean them with Brasso. Unfortunately i can't add pictures into this review, or you might be suprised at what the lights now look like. At $70 a piece, I guess I expected them to look great for years.

Comments about VOLT® Max Spread Brass Path & Area Light | Low Voltage Landscape Lighting:

I received two orders of the path lights and in the first order the screw nut that's tightens to the hammer stake had a brass ring that screwed down over the nut he to conceal it. It had volt written on it. The second shipment did not have this brass cover just the nut. The product is excellent in quality and I wild by the lights again.

EXCELLENT FIXTURES

By

from Vancouver, WA

Comments about VOLT® Max Spread Brass Path & Area Light | Low Voltage Landscape Lighting:

I purchased 11 of the max spread lights and 3 spot lights and absolutely love them. They are very sturdy and high quality fixtures especially compared to what you can buy in the big box stores. I had one LED bulb that did not work and one protective glass globe that was broken but when I called they immediately sent me replacements. I also used the pro hub system which I really like but the only downside was inserting the lead wires into the wago connectors. It was (at least for me) extremely difficult to push in and at the same time inserting the wires. The white side wasn't too bad but for some reason the black side was really hard to push in and it was that way on all 4 of my hubs. All in all I have very pleased and would definitely recommend volt lighting to anyone who is on the fence on who and where to buy from.

We have had to contact your office multiple times due to broken lamps. The review is not for the fixture itself but for the design. I think if you would re-engineer the design to include "cushioning" for the lamps then this product would be amazing!!!

Comments about VOLT® Max Spread Brass Path & Area Light | Low Voltage Landscape Lighting:

I have installed over 100 of the brass Max Spread Path & Area lights since 2014, and I must admit they are the best path light money can buy. I've not had 1 complaint from more than 30 customers regarding the quality, appearance or functionality of these lights. Only 1 light had a shade that developed a haze in year 3 but VOLT promptly, and without question replaced this shade. This is my "go to" fixture in new designs. The beam spread is fantastic...9' diameter is an accurate spec, and thus I don't need to line these up like a runway of solar path lights. My customer appreciate the Bronzed brass finish, which doesn't seem to patina very fast (good) and even the Hammer stake can be hammered into the Kansas Clay with a larger head mallet. A smaller hammer head may chip away the plastic, but careful blows with a larger mallet head or rubber mallet will ensures the ability to drive this stake completely into the ground. Once I level and pound / pack the ground tight around the base of the Hammer stake, these path lights provide years of great service. My only caution is don't OVER tighten the brass ring above and around the glass globe, or the glass WILL crack. VOLT has been great about replacing cracked glass globes so I have no complaints. Best path light I can find from any manufacturer for the price!

Comments about VOLT® Max Spread Brass Path & Area Light | Low Voltage Landscape Lighting:

I ordered and installed 8 Max Spread Path lights with the 4 watt LED bulb. Extremely well made. They look so good that I have been asked by two other neighbors to install for them too. I installed them 10 ft apart and I have the perfect affect. All brass light housing and the LED looks like it will last for a long time. 300+ lumen and I like the 2700 soft white light. The cost is about half that of a comparable Hinckley or Kichler product but its pricier than a Home Depot run of the mill bargain light.

When I pulled them out of the box they looked HUGE, but installed they looked amazing. Solid, brass construction and look fantastic. Picked the 2700k 30 W bulb and it is perfect for 15 foot spacing. Neighbors who paid more for professional landscapers to install their lighting are very envious!!

Comments about VOLT® Max Spread Brass Path & Area Light | Low Voltage Landscape Lighting:

Like many, I've wasted countless dollars and hours with cheap big-box landscape lighting. I came across Volt "surfing the interwebs" and decided with solid brass construction and lifetime warranties, how could I say no? I'm beyond happy with my choice! I have around 12 of the these path lights now and could not be more pleased. EXACTLY as described, throw a great amount of light DOWN to the ground without wasting it into the night. Volt has a customer for life now!
