VOLT® Max Spread Brass Path & Area Light

The Max Spread Brass Path & Area Light is our most popular path light. It projects a large 16' diameter region of illumination (30% greater than most of our other path lights). This large beam spread allows you to save money since the lights can be positioned farther apart. With solid brass construction and pro-grade internal components, we're proud to offer a lifetime warranty with this fixture.

Features & Benefits:

  • Solid brass construction for durability and beauty.
  • There is no powder coating, paint or finish to wear off or peel
  • Also available in copper. See VOLT® Max Spread Copper Area Light.
  • Ceramic white paint under shade for optimal light spread.

  • Q:

What's the recommended spacing on these? - Looking to light up the concrete area around the perimeter of a swimming pool...the pool has it's own lights when the cover is open and does a good job of lighting up the water.
    Asked on 5/1/2017 by DW

    1 answer

    • VOLT Lighting Specialist

      A:

That fixture will have a 16' light diameter, with that being said, if you wanted a constant flow of light you would place them 8 apart. If you want separate pools of light then you would place them a little further apart. Most people place them about 8-10 ft apart.

  • Q:

I notice the path lights come with the hammer ground stake can I upgrade to the brass for the cost difference of the two or do I pay have to pay full price for the brass?

    • VOLT Lighting Specialist

      A:

The 10'' hammer stake is free with the purchase however, if you choose a different mounting option during order configuration it will be at a discounted price.

  • Q:

We order lots of the pathlights and the heads seem to oxidize very quickly compared to the rest of the fixture. Is there a way to stop/prevent this from happening?
Asked on 1/19/2017 by Zac from Rogers,AR

      A:

The hats take on the most exposure to the sun, so you will always see those patina faster than the stem. Any elements that stay on that hat usually bake into the top, which may be harder to clean over time. With this being a brass unit, without a clear coat, they are made to take on those elements and change color. Best case scenario to keep them looking the same over time is to clean them regularly. This is the same for any outdoor item.

  • Q:

Our landscaper installed these a few years ago, the tops are getting discolored, how can I clean them.
Also we had a light go out and don't know how to order replacements bulbs or fuses or whatever these are, strange looking. All it says is Volt 120613.
Asked on 1/16/2017 by Ellie from Cinnaminson, NJ

    1 answer

    • VOLT Lighting Specialist

      A:

Our Cast Brass Bronze finished and Raw Copper finished products are not sealed and will patina and can stain from hard water, chemicals, and weather conditions. While the patina is a natural occurrence, the staining can sometimes be maintained by regular cleaning with a gentle dish soap and war water using a soft cloth. These conditions are not covered under our warranty.

  • Q:

Hi, wondering if I should get a 2W or 3W LED bulb with these? I'll use them at my home for path and perimiter low volt lighting. I'm getting 16 of them and they will be in close proximity to each other in high traffic areas.
Asked on 1/4/2017 by Jim from folsom, ca

    1 answer

    • VOLT Lighting Specialist

      A:

The unit itself has a maximum spread of about 16' in diameter. With those being in close proximity, you usually want to go with lower wattage. If they were going to be placed further back on the planter beds or grass, away from the walkway, then you may want to bump up the wattage to the higher wattage bulb.

The finish didnt hold up as i would have expected. I've had these lights for about a year and they have gone from a very nice looking brass to a pretty ugly looking finish. Called Volt and they said, it's a "natural patena" that will occur and are not covered under waranty. The only option they gave was to try to lightly clean them with Brasso. Unfortunately i can't add pictures into this review, or you might be suprised at what the lights now look like. At $70 a piece, I guess I expected them to look great for years.

Comments about VOLT® Max Spread Brass Path & Area Light | Low Voltage Landscape Lighting:

Very nice fixture. 24" stem is a bit too tall. Would be better with an 18" stem. The product descriptions do not list how long the stem is. That info shpould be made clear in all pathlighting descriptions.

Comments about VOLT® Max Spread Brass Path & Area Light | Low Voltage Landscape Lighting:

This is the third set of Landscape lighting for my back yard. I really liked the heavy duty product quality. Previous sets were big box junk and never lasted more than about 5 years. They get destroyed by my yard guys dragging hoses against them. I ordered these with the solid brass stakes, this combined with the heavy gauge stems on these units should solve my problem. Time will tell.

Comments about VOLT® Max Spread Brass Path & Area Light | Low Voltage Landscape Lighting:

When I got these I was a bit surprised by how long the rod was. I guess I should have measured or paid closer attention. I was a bit worried how this would look while sitting in the hot tub, these light up the path leading to it. Well, they are super cool, cast a nice glow and good spread. You hardly notice them at night, you really just see the light. I'm very happy. My only real issue was one of the glass globes came to be broken, I had purchased 8 of these. No problem though, I called Volt and they quickly sent me some replacements, no questions asked. I'm so happy with the products and the company.

Comments about VOLT® Max Spread Brass Path & Area Light | Low Voltage Landscape Lighting:

I received two orders of the path lights and in the first order the screw nut that's tightens to the hammer stake had a brass ring that screwed down over the nut he to conceal it. It had volt written on it. The second shipment did not have this brass cover just the nut. The product is excellent in quality and I wild by the lights again.
