How to Install the VOLT® Pro Nano-Junction Direct Burial Connector

What Is the Pro Nano-Junction?

The VOLT® Pro Nano-Junction Direct Burial Connector is a small, hub-style connector that lets you make a secure three-way low-voltage connection underground. It connects up to two light fixtures to a main cable run or can create a T-junction in your wire layout. It comes pre-filled with waterproof silicone grease, so once it's buried, your connections stay protected from moisture and corrosion for years.

What You'll Need

VOLT® Pro Nano-Junction Connectors (2-pack)
Lead Wires
Main line cable (from transformer or hub)
Wire stripper or utility knife
Cable labels or marker
Clean cloth (for wiping silicone)

Installation Instructions

1

Run Your Lead Wires to One Spot

Bring the cables from each of your light fixtures together to a single location in the ground where the connection will be made. This keeps everything organized and easy to work with.

Tip: Label each cable as you go so if you ever need to troubleshoot later, you'll know exactly which wire is which.
2

Run Your Main Line Cable

Run a separate cable directly from your transformer, or from another hub connection in the system. This is your main line and it carries power from the source to your fixtures. Bring this cable to the same location as your fixture cables.

3

Split and Prep Each Cable

Take each cable and split the two leads apart by about 6 inches. Then trim each lead down so you have about 1/2 inch of bare wire exposed at the end. Twist the exposed strands tightly together so they stay neat and insert cleanly into the connector.

4

Pull Up the Orange Clips on the Connector

Before inserting any wires, pull up the orange locking clips on the Pro Nano-Junction connector. These clips need to be in the open position so the wires can slide in properly.

5

Insert the Wire Leads

Each cable has two leads. Insert one lead from each cable pair into the first available connector slot. Continue until all leads are seated in their slots. Each connector holds up to three connections.

Tip: After each insertion, give the wire a gentle tug to confirm it is held securely. If it pulls out easily, re-seat and try again.
6

Repeat With the Second Connector

Each cable has a second lead. Use the second Pro Nano-Junction connector to connect all of the remaining leads from each cable following the same process as Step 5.

7

Test Your Connections

Before sealing anything, turn on your transformer and check that all your fixtures light up. This is the easiest time to fix a bad connection before the silicone is sealed and the connectors are buried.

Tip: If a light does not come on, re-check that both leads from that fixture's cable are connected to the same slot on each connector.
8

Seal the Silicone Compartment

Once everything is confirmed working, remove the cover from the silicone compartment on the first connector. Then close the lid firmly until it snaps into place. Some silicone will squeeze out and that is completely normal. Wipe away any excess with a clean cloth. Repeat for the second connector.

9

Bury the Connectors

Your Pro Nano-Junctions are now ready for direct burial. Place them underground and backfill with soil. The silicone-sealed connectors will protect your connections from moisture and corrosion, keeping your system running strong for years to come.

Good to Know

The Pro Nano-Junction accepts wire up to 12-gauge and works great as a T-junction too, not just for fixtures. If you are extending a run or splitting a line, it handles that just as easily. And because the connections are mechanical clamps rather than silicone wire nuts, the wires physically cannot pull out once seated.
