  • Q:

Is this Voltage Loss example acceptable using 4 lights on a lead (150' length (to furthest LED) x 50W X 2)/3500= 4.3V; 12V + 4.3V = 16.3V; therefore using the 15V Tap the LED's would have 10.7V ; which is within the LED acceptable voltage range correct? Or do I need to increase the lead to #12/2 as indicated in the transformer booklet Planning Table? Also would using the Pro Micro-Junction Direct Burial Connector 5 way be beneficial?

      A:

It would be recommend to use the 12/2 cable for a distance of that legnth. From there when you attach your line, make sure to not connect more than 8-10 fixtures on the single line. It would also be recommended to put these items on the 12v tap and with our Voltmeter, make sure the fixtures are sitting in between 10.8-15v. With the Pro Micro-Junction Direct Burial Connector 5 way ; it would be most beneficial when connecting multiple fixtures in a specific area.

  • Q:

I am looking at the kit but I don't need the transformer and 100 ft of cable. What I would need instead is twelve of the fixtures only. What would be the cost for that. I have existing transformers at the six entry locations for a housing tract. I am an electrical contractor and will be doing the job very soon. Thanks, Joe Core

With the VOLT® Brass Lifetime LED Landscape Lighting Kit | (10) Spot Kit; it would come as is and cannot be adjusted. Since we are an e-commerce company; All of our product's information, pricing, and specs are online on our website. • Q:

Do the lights have to be on one continuous wire or can I have it split and go in two different directions? I have complicated landscaping that makes it difficult to run one continuous line.

      A:

For connecting the fixtures, You can run multiple lines, you can run your line to a junction box and make your connections, or you can run a single line for daisy chaining; For Daisy chaining, we recommend not to exceed more than 8 fixtures. If you are in need of further assistance, you can always call our customer support line for assistance.

  • Q:

can additional lights be added onto this transformer or is 10 the maximum number of lights you can install?
Asked on 5/8/2017 by rob from Clifton Park, New York

    1 answer

    • VOLT Lighting Specialist

      A:

That kit comes with a 150w transformer, with that being said, you are consuming 70w with the 10 spots. The recommended maximum for that transformer is 120w total. So, you would be able to comfortably fit another 50w on that unit.

I want to place my lights at a far distance from the transformer. Can I buy extra wiring and splice into the original 100'?

    • VOLT Lighting Specialist

      A:

The 14/2 wire supplied in the kit is good up to 75ft. If you are exceeding that distance it is recommended to upgrade the wire to a heavier gauge. Here is our recommended scale:
      0-30 ft. = #16/2 Wire
      30-75 ft. = #14/2 Wire
      75-150 ft. = #12/2 Wire
      150-250 ft. = #10/2 Wire
      250-300 ft. = #8/2 Wire

  • Q:

I need to clarify something about this product. What wattage equivalency are these? I'm looking for 50 Watt equivalents. Also, how many watts does each of the spot lights require? I want to see how many more lights I can add to the 150 Watt transformer for future. Lastly, does it come with 48' of cord or 100'? It says both. Thank you.

    • VOLT Lighting Specialist

      A:

The Infiniti 30 fixtures are a 30 watt halogen equivalent. They only consume 7 watts each. You can fit about 17 of the Infiniti 30 fixtures on the transformer without an issue. If you plan on exceeding this, you would need an additional transformer. The fixtures all come with 48" lead wires, but the kit comes with 100' of cable for the main line runs.

  • Q:

What the size of the transformer
What's the size and length of the wire
What's the bulb sizes. Assume LED's
Are the lights also called "all stars"

      A:

The transformer is a 150 watt, the cable is 100' of 14/2, and the Infiniti fixtures are integrated (built in). The bulbs are LED 7 watt, 30 watt halogen equivalent. We do not sell any kits with the All Star fixtures.

Quality product easy to install

The complete kit made the installation very simple. I was pleasantly surprised how bright the lights were. We installed it throughout our back and side yards, we liked it so much that we purchased 6 more spot lights to complete our project. Solid brass should last a very long time. Photocell is not included in the kit, we had to purchase it separately and pay an additional shipping fee. It would be better if the photocell is included in the kit.
