Is there any reason these spotlights cannot use DC bulbs instead of AC, assuming the power supply is low voltage DC? It seems like the fixture is only to mount the bulb and would not have a built-in rectifier since that is what the bulbs do themselves.

Will this light provide enough lumination for a 25’ft flagpole? What gauge wire do you recommend for running the wire 40’-50’ft to a low voltage transformer? Is there a romex style that would work and run it through a conduit or some kind?
For 40-50 ft 14 gauge is plenty for a single light. I used 12 gauge due to multiple runs and not to experience voltage drop over the distance. There are voltage drop calculators. As far as the usage on a flagpole I would get the brighter bulb option.

is the TOP DOG light dimmable with a wall dimmer switch?
Hello,
The top dog is a 12 volt AC fixture and would require a low voltage transformer. The transformer would be taking in the 120v from the outlet it is plugged into and converting it down to 12v. The wall dimmer switch would be interfering with that so the transformer would not be able to function correctly. You would need a 12v dimmer and/or and dimming compatible bulb.

I want to replace my existing landscape fixtures and the wires come out of a tube where the old lights screwed into...the top dog Volt fixtures have a threaded post base (if you dont use the stake) what is the diameter of the Volt threaded post base?

Very Attractive, Heavy Duty and Great Size
I'm using these fixtures for uplighting of a number of Bradford pear trees. These are a perfect size. I have them mounted on a 6"" riser since they are located in an ivy bed. The stake and riser protect the wiring from aggressive trimming of the ivy and provide the proper height. Though I ordered the 30 watt led bulbs, I will likely change them out for the 20 watt as they are a bit too bright on the trunk and limbs. The project on my home is wrapping up now and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. The product designs from Volt surely helped me with the design and installation. Everything, and I do mean everything is of the highest quality

Not the same quality
I'm still a fan of Volt in general - mainly due to their warranty - but the quality of this particular fixture has really dropped recently. The lens glass now has a lip around it from the housing, the main seal has been changed out for one similar to their cheaper fixtures, the housing itself is much thinner, the thumbscrew and aiming mechanism has a cheaper feel to it, and you can no longer add an extended lead wire. Volt, this fixture was one of your flagship products - one of the reasons I've stuck with you over the years. But this new version is not up to your usual standards.

Hands Down! Changed the entire outlook of our House! Period
Very well made, amazing looking, perfect product that lights up our front and side yard in a very charming way. Myself designed the whole lighting system and visualized it before I started. Worked my way up to that I thought I would do with these lights and it turned out to be great looking landscape in our front, side and back yard. Highly recommend this product if you want to have a unique landscape lighting experience in your home appearance. None other products can be compared to VOLT products. Don't even think about buying anything from local hardware store as it cannot be compared with VOLT system products. They also offer lifetime warranty on those which is a plus! Liking it a lot. Simply the best
I have been using volt products for years. they never cease to stand up to any job i am using them on. i live in sw florida and they even stand up to hurricanes! there is a lot of companys who tend to think by making the same products cheaper and cheaper that it doesnt make a difference. as an electrical contractor i use this product on many jobs for a few reasons. 1- they continue to be a quality product. 2- they are affordable for a quality product. and 3- the customer service and warranty have staedily been top notch throughout the years. i will continue to use their products, from transformers to fixtures they are unmatched across the board. Thanks Volt!

Very high quality
Upon opening the box, one can immediately see and feel the quality built into this spotlight. It was great to replace my old aluminum corroded lights with these brass ones. I also appreciated the wide range of bulbs to choose from. One suggestion for improvement; the angle of the lights, once installed, are subject to the teeth that lock the lighting fixture to the part of the base that connects with the (sturdy) spikes. More teeth would make the angle of the lights more finely adjustable.

""Slightly"" disappointed from
I would buy again BUT…
I really Like these lights and have purchased them several Times for several Different uses. HOWEVER, I have found the finish does not last. In past purchases the brass turned. When I called VOLT and inquired about the lifetime warranty they told me it did not apply to the finish. Disappointing. My house is within 200 yards of the oceanfront which I'm sure accelerates the wear. Just wish my expectation re the warranty was clear at first. I will say in my opinion, from an all around standpoint this is still the best light on the market.

We shown light on our flag pole in the front yard.
We wanted to light our flag pole in the front yard. After a brief internet search I called Volt. The phone help with ordering the necessary items was outstanding. We added a few lights for the front of the house and then purchased with a VOLT® Intermatic Astronomic Digital Timer and a VOLT® 150 Watt (12v - 15v) Multi-Tap Low Voltage Transformer. Installation went well and everything works. I was forewarned in reviews about difficulties others had experienced with initially configuring the timer. I was confident that help from Volt would be available if needed. I read the instructions carefully and it worked right away. So I do not have actual experience with their support area.

Top Dog Spotlight
I ordered several of these lights with the 3W MR16 LED bulbs for uplighting crepe myrtles in the front yard, the front of the house and some trees in the back. They provide a nice warm light; not too bright but a perfect amount for decoration and mood lighting. I used two for each crepe myrtle in the front yard to avoid shadowing, but one per tree cluster in the back was perfect for evening mood lighting. They are easily adjustable and very well built. I had one fixture with a loose connection inside (caused the transformer to trip), but VOLT replaced it with no problem.
