Product Description

ACE Connector 2-Pack (AWG 8 - 18)

Ace Connectors are favorites for many of the most experienced landscape lighting installers. As a brass butt-type connector, the Ace Connector features a compression fitting that uses hex-head set screws to compress the wires. Heat shrink tubing is provided that (with applied heat) shrinks around wires and connectors to provide a water-tight connection. Butt-type connections like these provide a strong, straight streamlined junction that works well for both exposed and buried applications. Comes with 2 brass connectors, 2 heat shrink tubes, and Hex wrench. Will fit wire gauges from #8-#18. 2 per pack.

Features & Benefits:

  • UL Listed solid brass lug.
  • Fast curing heat shrink.
  • Weather resistant to withstand outdoor elements.
  • For use in low voltage landscape lighting and direct bury applications.
  • Set screw thread pitch allows tighter securing of wires.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor design I just tried installing this between 12 AWG and an 18 AWG fixture, and it was very disappointing because: 1) it is rated for 12 AWG wire, but that is very difficult to insert and tighten the Allen nut onto. In fact the first nut popped out and the Allen wrench provided was wedged onto the nut because I was having such a hard time tightening it - so that connector ended up a waste, 2) the shrink insulation is fine for the 12 AWG side but leaves a gap on the 18 AWG side because it does not contract enough - I had to apply electrical tape to augment the closure. Very disappointing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really the best landscape light splices out there I saw these used on an old episode of Asl This Old House and realized that ic could address a lot of the issues I was having with my landscape lighting - specifically having the gel caps pulled loose when the gardening got too rough. I have a stock and use them for any repairs or upgrades I have made for the past few years. Easy to install, the small size works b3st for in line splices and the large size for branches to added lights. A heat gun will really help set the shrink tubing over just a lighter or flame, but both can be made to work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 5 Stars and then some! A must have for secure connections. Bonus points for being able to unscrew them and modify as needed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not the Best Connector There should be a law against this product for several reasons, if not for the frustration alone. I bought (4) 12-gauge connectors at $7+ per pair with an Allen wrench included. Since these are outdoor wiring connectors, I worked outdoors. My work surface was red-dye mulch, and the first time I unscrewed the TINY set screw just slightly to back out, it popped out into the mulch. Try finding that! Then the connector's hole for the wire is not going to accept a 12-gauge stranded wire, no way! Who engineered this for 12-gauge stranded wire? Then, trying to get the set screw back into the tapped hole and engage the thread..., could this get any more difficult?? WHY? The fully loaded Nano-Junction Direct Burial Connectors are the messiest and most likely to loosen over time, but they are way better than this ACE connector.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lefty-Loosey, Righty-Tight Works as Intended. unscrew the retaining pins, insert wires and righty tighty back to secure! Oh, make sure you insert heat shrink tubing. the tubing will shrink just be patient with it on the ends, takes a bit.
