LEARN: How to Install Well Lights

    What are well lights?

Well lights are discreet landscape lighting fixtures that are recessed into the ground or in mulch and cast light upwards to illuminate trees, architectural features, statues, columns and more. Our popular Salty Dog MR16 Well Light is fully-submersible (IP68 rated), as is our versatile Salty Dog In-Grade Light, which can be installed in-ground, in-grade in hard surfaces or underwater to illuminate walkways, driveways, patios, lanais, gardens, fountains, small ponds or architectural features.

Why would I use a well light instead of a spotlight or flood light?

Well lights, spotlights and flood lights are all used for uplighting - but the advantage of a well light is that it's recessed-mounted instead of being mounted above-ground, so it has a more discreet appearance in your landscape.

What should I keep in mind when installing well lights?

Always install with at least 2 inches of gravel/drainage at bottom of the hole. Also, if possible, use a post hole digger to make cleaner holes. For more, follow our step-by-step instructions for how to install a well light.
