VOLT® Pro Junction Hub

The easist, quickest, most flexible way to connect multiple landscape lighting wires - designed and engineered exclusively by VOLT®.

This groundbreaking junction box is a significant improvement over all other hub connectors. Using a robust system of rail-mounted clamp-type connectors, wires are simply inserted and clamped into the block. Wires may be connected or disconnected after installation.

This is the best hub junction on the market!

  • Connect up to 7 fixtures and the main line from the transformer - accommodates large or small projects.
  • Simply open clamp then insert wire. Close clamp to make connection. Simple and fast.
  • Connectors are protected from elements and resist corrosion. Built for lifetime systems.
  • Serves as a voltage testing point for initial installation and future maintenance.
  • Pro Junction Hub is constructed of flat black impact-resistant PVC and accommodates a stake or surface mount to secure unit.
  • Saves time and money while providing best-in-class lighting system connections.
  • Accepts up to 12-gauge wire
  • UL and cUL listed
  • Patent pending.

To Hub or Not to Hub, That is the Question

The hub method of wiring describes when several landscape lighting fixtures are connected to a single junction. A wire then connects the junction to the transformer to supply the power. A lighting system may use several hubs - all connected to a single transformer.

In the days when all lighting used incandescent or halogen bulbs, hubs were needed to ensure that every fixture received exactly the same voltage. Now, with LED systems, the acceptable voltage range is much wider (8V to 15V - for VOLT® systems - compared to the previous 10V to 12V). This means that hubs are no longer needed to equalize the voltage. But there are many other reasons why hubs are smart for all systems - even LEDs.

Why Use Pro Junction Hubs?

  • Equalizes voltage among fixtures (not as important for LEDs)
  • No need to buy separate connectors. The Pro Junction Hub has them built-in.
  • Connections are secure and dry above-ground for better long term reliability and convenient troubleshooting.
  • Dramatically speeds up installation time.
  • Typical buried wire connections are vulnerable to failure. The Pro Junction Hub protects the connections and makes them easy to service.
  • With fewer splices there is less material cost and reduced labor - saves time and money.
  • Provides a place to test voltage for each fixture - great for troubleshooting.
  • Makes it easy to add or remove fixtures after installation.

Pro-Tip: Attach a Surface Mount accessory and you can mount the hub in convenient locations such as in pump houses or near air conditioning units. Attach a stake for extra stability in soft soil or mulch.

  • Q:

Can I run daisy chains off each connection of a hub? Total of 3 chains
Asked on 10/19/2017 by Bill from Fort Walton Beach Fl

    1 answer

    • VOLT Lighting Specialist

      A:

The hub was more so designed to connect up to (7) fixtures (one for each rubber cap sealed cable entrance/exit hole) but, yes; you could daisy-chain fixtures on a single run from the hub. However, using a hub in this manner you may run the risk of exceeding the recommended load for a single run, which is (10) fixtures or 80w per run; this can lead to voltage loss. Also, if using halogen bulbs, you would need to make sure that each run out of the hub was the exact same length.

  • Q:

    Only 12 g wire? Could 26 g possibly work?
    Thanks
Asked on 10/7/2017 by Edward from Virginia Beach, Va

    1 answer

    • VOLT Lighting Specialist

      A:

Yes; the 'VOLT® Pro Junction Hub' accepts up to 12-gauge wire so, the unit should work with cables of a thinner gauge as well.

Can the transformer supply wire attach to any terminal in the hub?

    1 answer

    • VOLT Lighting Specialist

      A:

Yes; the hub is designed so that the main supply cable can be inserted into any terminal in order for the terminal block to receive and disperse power.

  • Q:

Can I split my primary wire and use pigtails to attach TWO hubs to one transformer? I have two areas of my yard and would like to have one hub in each area. Thanks very much.
Asked on 10/1/2017 by Valerie from St. Paul, MN

    1 answer

    • VOLT Lighting Specialist

      A:

Yes, you can use multiple hubs in a project; granted that the power consumption is within the transformer's recommend operating range of course. However, using (2) or more hubs in conjunction on a single run, you would run the risk of exceeding the recommended load for a single run, which is (10) fixtures or 80w per run; this can lead to voltage loss.

Can the HUB be used to string the main line from HUB to HUB and also connect the individual LED fixtures?

    1 answer

    • VOLT Lighting Specialist

      A:

Yes, you can however, using (2) hubs in conjunction like this you would run the risk of exceeding the recommended load for a single run, which is (10) fixtures or 80w per run; this can lead to voltage loss.

Can one of the 7 connections be another Hub G3? If so, are there distance or voltage restrictions I should be aware of?

    • VOLT Lighting Specialist

      A:

Yes, you can however, using (2) hubs in conjunction like this you would run the risk of exceeding the recommended load for a single run, which is (10) fixtures or 80w per run; this can lead to voltage loss.

  • Q:

Can't the pro hub accept an 8 awg home line? It says 12,awg max but I can't see why it wouldn't work.

Also, can I connect multiple hubs?
Asked on 8/7/2017 by Craig from South Jersey

    1 answer

    • VOLT Lighting Specialist

      A:

The inserts on the terminal block are designed for use with 12-gauge cable; attempting to use a larger gauge of cable may result in unsecure connections and cause unpredictable results. Yes; you could use multiple hubs in a larger project, just be sure to not exceed more than 80w or (10) fixtures per individual run from the transformer.

Perfect for my main distribution junction box!

By

from Vienna, WV

Comments about VOLT® Hub G3:

Before I knew this VOLT Hub existed, I designed and installed a 6" x 6" plastic j-box directly under my lighting transformer into which all 6 of my low voltage distribution wires ended. I was going to somehow splice them all together inside this j-box, also connecting the main feed from the transformer. Then I discovered this product, but didn't need the nice hub housing that came with it. I was thrilled when a VOLT technician told me I could order the hub, remove the terminal strip and DIN rail from inside the housing, and install them inside my existing j-box. Everything fit perfectly. Now I am able to easily connect each leg of my distribution wiring as I add lights to different areas of my yard. A perfect solution!

Great way to consolidate wires - one flaw

By

from St. Louis

Comments about VOLT® Hub G3:

These are great to consolidate wires down to a central point. I used two of these in my at home project to consolidate and tie to the main wire. I like the ability to add on lights in the future. (which i will do next summer). The rubber grommets on the bottom tend to pop out easy. When wiring and trying to close the cap they tend to be snug on the wire and pop out. It takes a little bit of wresting. In the end it's worth it, in order to be weather tight.

Does what the product description says it does.

By

Comments about VOLT® Hub G3:

This product eliminated all of the mess (grease-filled wire nuts, 6+ wires being twisted together, etc.) that was present in our previous configuration. I was originally somewhat surprised to see the terminal strip in the cap - it's a bit challenging to close things up when you're using all the terminals and have that many wires to push (in coordination) through the access holes in the base, but that probably provides more protection of the connections from dirt and moisture since that stuff shouldn't defy gravity (but somehow it does).
I would definitely purchase additional units as needed.
