In this tutorial, learn how to set up VOLT®’s color-changing LED landscape lighting bulbs. With this latest innovation, you can easily change colors, color temperature, brightness and create multiple lighting zones.
VOLT® RGBCW color-changing bulbs put full control of your landscape lighting right in your hand. You can adjust colors, color temperature, brightness, and even group your fixtures into separate zones, all with one remote. This guide walks you through setup from start to finish.
Setting Up Your Color-Changing Bulbs
Install Your Bulbs and Power On
With your landscape lighting system in place, insert the RGBCW color-changing bulbs into your fixtures. Turn your transformer on to power the lights. All VOLT® color-changing bulbs ship from the factory set to a default state and must be paired using the VOLT® RGBCW RF Remote Control before any color changes take effect.
Watch for Pairing Mode
Once powered on, the bulbs will blink between warm white and cool white light for 30 seconds. This blinking indicates that the bulbs are in pairing mode and are ready to be linked to a zone on your remote. Make sure you have your RF Remote Control nearby and ready during this window.
Pair Your Bulbs to a Zone
While the bulbs are still blinking in pairing mode, press the zone number on the remote that you want to assign to those fixtures. The remote supports up to 6 separate zones, so you can group lights by area, such as the front yard, backyard, or pathway. Press the zone number once to complete the pairing.
Confirm the Pairing Was Successful
After pressing the zone number, the light will flash cool white (4000K) three times. This is the confirmation signal that your fixture has been successfully paired to that zone. The light will then settle into warm white (2200K) as its starting point.
Repeat for Additional Fixtures or Zones
If you have more fixtures to pair, simply power them on, wait for the blinking pairing mode, and assign each one to a zone by pressing the zone button on the remote. You can pair multiple fixtures to the same zone, or assign each one to its own zone depending on how you want to control your lighting system.
Select Your Zone and Adjust Color Temperature
Once your fixtures are paired, select the zone you want to control on the remote. Use the warm light or cool light buttons to step through the available color temperature presets. Pressing once moves to the next level, and holding the button down will gradually shift the temperature until you release it. You can also tap the CCT button for quick access to the preset temperatures.
Choose a Color from the RGB Palette
For full color control, touch the RGB palette wheel on the remote to select any color. Use the W, C, or CCT buttons to switch back to white light modes whenever you want. The RGBCW system gives you the flexibility to use your lights as everyday white lighting year round and switch to vibrant colors for holidays, parties, and special events.
One VOLT® RGBCW RF Remote Control works with all of your RGBCW bulbs and fixtures. You do not need a separate remote for each light. The remote has a signal range of up to 30 feet and requires two AAA batteries, which are sold separately.
